Kate Nagel was born in South Florida before moving to Southwest Virginia when she was 10 years old. She actually moved just on the other side of the mountains! She spent her middle and high school years in Franklin County, Va. where she fell in love with Earth sciences. That brought her to want to study meteorology in college. She attended Florida State University (Go Noles!) and graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor’s of Science in meteorology with a minor in mathematics and communications. After graduating, she took her first job and moved to a completely different climate, North Dakota! She spent about a year and a half tracking blizzards and below freezing temperatures in the winter while her summer months were spent tracking windy and sometimes tornado producing storms. After a really great time, she found it was time to move closer to home and to some slightly warmer climate.
She's excited to be a part of the team in Charleston, West Virginia! When she's not at work, she loves being able to spend time outside, whether it's hiking, exploring new places, or fishing. On days when the weather is too cold for her Florida blood, you may find her binging Netflix or going to the movies!
