Marshall's comeback falls just short, drops fourth in a row

Marshall's losing woes continued with a loss to UAB, Thursday at the Cam Henderson Center.

    The Thundering Herd (13-13, 6-7) fell to the Blazers (15-11, 7-6), 77-68.

Marshall trailed by as many as 17 points in the second half but charged back to cut the deficit to three, 70-67 with 2:07 to play.

But the Blazers outscored the herd seven to one in the final two minutes, and handed Dan D'antoni's team its fourth loss in a row.

The loss solidifies Marshall spot in the second or third tier of pod play, and still doesn't guarantee Marshall a place in the Conference USA Tournament.

Pod play opens February 23, and the schedule will be determined following the conference games on Saturday.

    Marshall's hosts Middle Tennessee State (8-18, 5-8)
