The Marshall Thundering Herd dropped its second straight Conference USA game Thursday night in an overtime loss to Louisiana Tech.

The Herd (12-8, 5-2) overcame a 10-point deficit, but ultimately fell to the Bulldogs (14-7, 4-4) 89-80 in overtime.

Marshall was led by senior C.J. Burks who recorded a double-double with 29 points and 12 rebounds.

Freshman Taevion Kinsey scored 14 for the Herd and sophomore Jannson Williams added 11.

Jon Elmore averages 20.1 points per game this season, but struggled against the Bulldogs. The senior was just two of 12 from the field and scored eight points.

It's just the third time this season Elmore has been held to single-digits. All of those games have been losses for the Herd.

The Bulldogs were led by junior DaQuan Bracey who scored 25. He also finished the game with six rebounds and six assists.

Bracey's layup with under five seconds remaining tied the game at 72 and sent the game into overtime.

Marshall will look to snap its two-game skid Saturday when it takes on Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg at 5 p.m.
