Huntington's Darnell Wright signs with Tennessee

Huntington High offensive lineman Darnell Wright officially signed to play football at the University of Tennessee Wednesday.

The 6 foot 6 inch, 300 pound offensive tackle is a consensus five-star recruit and is rated the No. 2 offensive tackle in the nation by and 247Sports. ESPN ranks Wright as the No. 3 offensive tackle.

Wright chose Tennessee over West Virginia, Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisville, Marshall, Maryland, Miami, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Arkansas, and Wisconsin.

Wright joins the Volunteers, who have the sixth-best recruiting class in the Southeastern Conference, according to Rivals. Wright is Tennessee's only five-star recruit.

Tennessee is coming off a 5-7 season in head coach Jeremy Pruitt's first season. Wright and the Volunteers will kick off the 2019 season on Aug. 31 against Georgia State.
