North-South Classic: Northcraft ready to soar one last time

Jacob Northcraft left Musselman as the school's all-time rushing leader.

There have been some great running backs through the years in Musselman High history. During the 2017 seson, Jacob Northcraft established himself as the best by becoming the school's all-time rushing leader.

"That was one of my biggest goal coming into the season and it's definitely an honor," said Northcraft. "Especially being from Musselman, whose got a history of really good running backs like Beetle Robinson and Josh Ferguson, Deonte Glover, who have crazy big numbers. It's a huge honor."

Soon, Northcraft will leave West Virginia to become a member of the Air National Guard.

"I've always wanted to serve my country," he said. "Join the military and this is the best option for me. Get my school paid for, do military stuff. I'm excited. I leave July 24 for Fort Lackland for basic training. Fired up."

With his future in tact, this is Northcraft's last football game, but he's not looking at it as a bittersweet moment.

"I always tell people, I don't see endings I see new beginnings. This might be an ending. I see it as a new beginning, the next chapter of my life."

Northcraft goal down the road is serve as a state police officer.
