Wesleyan Upsets UC for MEC Championship

The University of Charleston suffered their first loss of the year Sunday afternoon losing to West Virginia Wesleyan in overtime 2-1 in the MEC Men's Soccer Tournament Championship. The Golden Eagles streak of four straight tournament championships comes to a close. Wesleyan took an early lead thanks to Matthew Bentley's goal in the first half. UC tied it near the end of regulation on a goal from Ropin Lapert in the 87th minute. Kazuma Takagi scored the golden goal in the overtime period to complete the upset. UC will find out it's postseason fate tomorrow with the D2 Men's Soccer Selection Show.
