Marshall added four signees on National Signing Day Wednesday, adding to the 16 recruits the Herd signed during the early signing period in December.

The Herd's recruiting class features two four-star recruits and 11 three-start recruits and is rated as the top recruiting class in Conference USA by Rivals.com.

"We are excited to add these young men to what we believe is an excellent class," Marshall head coach Doc Holliday said in a news release. "Securing the right personnel is key to building your football program and we've done that today."

On Wednesday, Marshall added a running back and three defensive linemen to its roster.

The first signee of the day was defensive lineman T.J. Johnson.

The 6 foot 6 inch, 240 lineman is from Southfield, Michigan and comes to Huntington from Independence Community College, which was featured on Netflix's 'Last Chance U'. At Independence, Johnson had 44 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, and three sacks in just seven games.

Johnson is already enrolled at Marshall and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Coming out of high school, he was rated a two-start prospect and had offers from Minnesota, Iowa State, Purdue, and Miami, Ohio.

Marshall received its second National Letter of Intent of the day from running back Knowledge McDaniel.

McDaniel is a three-star prospect from Braden River High School in Bradenton, Fla. The 5 foot 11 inch, 215 back was named the Bradenton Herald's 2017 Offensive Player of the Year.

Coming out of high school, McDaniel had offers from Georgia, Ohio State, Tennessee, South Carolina, Syracuse, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Rutgers, Missouri, North Carolina, Louisville, Kentucky, Iowa State, Indiana, Duke, Cincinnati, USF, Southern Miss and UAB.

The Herd's third commitment of the day came from junior college transfer Esaias Carpenter.

Coming out of high school, Carpenter was rated a two-start prospect and had offers from Akron, Jacksonville State, Chattanooga, Eastern Illinois and Western Illinois.
