WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) -- Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona sent a $100 check to Doug Jones' campaign on Tuesday and announced his donation on Twitter Tuesday afternoon.
On Monday, Flake said on Twitter that "a Roy Moore victory is no victory for the GOP and the nation." The senator quote tweeted a tweet from former presidential candidate Mitt Romney who also denounced Roy Moore's candidacy for Senate.
"Roy Moore in the US Senate would be a stain on the GOP and on the nation. Leigh Corfman and other victims are courageous heroes. No vote, no majority is worth losing our honor, our integrity," Romney said.
Moore responded to Flake's donation by "calling all patriots" to "step up and reject the DC establishment" through their own donations to his campaign.
These two denunciations of Moore come after President Trump endorsed the Republican candidate for Senate in Alabama. Once Trump came out in support of Moore, the RNC also resumed their support for the candidate.
Trump met with Republican senators on Tuesday, including Flake, and reiterated his endorsement in front of them while speaking to reporters.
"I think he's going to do very well," the President said. "We don't want to have a liberal Democrat in Alabama, believe me."
Earlier this week, the Washington Post reported that one of Moore's accusers held a graduation card as evidence of a relationship between the pair when she was 17. Moore is accused of having inappropriate sexual relationships with minors. Moore has denied the allegations.
