A West Virginia couple is celebrating Valentine's Day in a unique way - with the gift of life.

Married couple Brian and Pam King joined with Charleston Area Medical Center Thursday to celebrate National Donor Day. Pam decided to donate one of her kidneys to save Brian's life last year. She now is advocating for others to follow in her footsteps.

Observed every year on Feb. 14, National Donor Day seeks to spread the message of becoming organ donors so that others can have a chance of life, something that Pam knows from experience to be true.

“It helps your family, your friends, your neighbors and a lot of people think that it is just a good ultraistic effort that adds to the quality of their lives also,” she said.

To become an organ donor, you can register at your local DMV or at donatelife.net.
