Woman charged after dog starves to death in Fayette County, sheriff's office says

Fayette County deputies said a woman was arrested over the weekend after she abandoned a dog in a home for an extended period of time, resulting in the animal starving to death.

Candice L. Adkins, 23 of Oak Hill was arrested on warrants over the weekend on animal cruelty charges, according to a news release from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

Adkins was arraigned on the charges the following day by the Fayette County Magistrate's Office.
