ST. ALBANS, W.Va. (WCSH/WVAH) — A bowling alley that has served the St. Albans community for more than 60 years will be closing in May.
Venture Lanes announced it will be closing on May 19.
The bowling alley has been in operation in St. Albans since 1956. The family-owned and operated business said it will be closing because there are no Schoenbaum family members living in West Virginia and it can no longer operate under the family's direct supervision and personal involvement.
The bowling alley said the closing date of May 19 was selected to best fit the 450 league members. Until the closing date, there will be a restructuring of the bowling alley's hours.
The bowling alley will be sold and the family hopes it will be able to turn over the operations of the bowling alley before May 19.
