Valley Health Systems Inc. buys Mountaineer Opry House in Milton
MILTON, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) —
A place with a rich history of music will soon be home to a facility that provides medical services.
Valley Health Systems Inc. is the new owner of the Mountaineer Opry House. A representative for Valley Health Systems said it plans to build a 15,000-square-foot facility on the property to replace their current facility in Milton. Due to demand for medical services, that facility has outgrown its boundaries.
The new building will house a pharmacy, family medicine, internal medicine, pediatric and behavior health services.
To honor the legacy of the Mountaineer Opry House, Valley Health Systems is sponsoring a free concert at the venue at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 19. On June 2, there will be a farewell concert featuring 20 bands that have performed at the Mountaineer Opry House over the venue's 46-year history.
The Mountaineer Opry House has a music history that dates back to the early 1970s, featuring local and nationally known country and bluegrass bands.
