Vacant building fire under investigation in Huntington
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) —
Huntington firefighters are investigating a suspicious fire to a vacant building.
The fire happened about 10:20 a.m. Tuesday in the 1100 block of Jackson Avenue.
Firefighters say a two-story apartment had caught fire before. The structure was vacant and quickly knocked down.
"A vacant house is very dangerous for first responders because they deteriorate very quickly and sometimes we get squatters or people in there that shouldn't be in there," Huntington Fire Chief Jan Rider said.
The fire marshal is investigating.
