Charleston police have released the names of the victims in what they are now describing as a double homicide investigation.

The bodies of Jenni Chesney, 47, and Kenneth Campbell, 50, were discovered Wednesday morning in an apartment at 3921 Washington St. W., police said. Police said the two victims lived together at the address.

Police said a dog also was shot to death and was found at the scene.

The bodies were found Wednesday in an apartment in an area near Pier 54 Marina. A person entered the basement apartment at the home about 7 a.m. and discovered the bodies.

Police are not releasing many details, but they said there is no apparent danger to the general public.

"Obviously, it's concerning what happened here," Lt. Autumn Davis of the Charleston Police Department said. "We'll know more as the day goes on about what transpired."

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Criminal Investigation Division at 304-348-6480 or 304-348-8111.
