Traffic stop leads to meth bust in Roane County

A Charleston man is facing multiple charges following a traffic stop led to a significant drug bust in Roane County Friday.

Basil Eugene Smith is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and several other traffic violations, according to the Roane County Sheriff's Department.

Friday night, deputies conducted a traffic stop on Smith's vehicle on Ambler Ridge and found about 40 grams of crystal methamphetamine and what is believed to be a large amount of heroin.

Deputies also found about $1,800 cash in the vehicle.
