Metro 911 said several lanes of the West Virginia Turnpike were shut down Tuesday in the Chelyan area after a wreck involving two tractor-trailers.

The wreck happened about 6:25 p.m. at mile marker 83 near the Barrier C toll both, a dispatcher said.

One northbound and one southbound lane was closed, and the dispatcher said a second northbound lane was going to be shut down.

One tractor-trailer went into a barrier wall, and another tractor-trailer apparently trying to avoid the wreck jackknifed.

It was unclear whether there were any injuries.

West Virginia State Police at the Turnpike detachment is handling the investigation. The East Bank and Cabin Creek volunteer fire departments and Kanawha County medics responded.
