Talley Sergent has been declared the winner in the U.S. House 2nd Congressional District Democratic race in West Virginia.

The Associated Press projected that Sergent, a resident of Charleston, defeated Aaron Scheinberg of Hedgesville.

In November, Sergent will face incumbent Rep. Alex Mooney, who was unopposed in the GOP primary.

Sergent is the former West Virginia campaign director for Hillary Clinton when she ran for president.
