West Virginia State Police have arrested a suspect who was wanted in a violent home invasion in Cabell County.

Geoffrey Nichols, of Altizer, was taken into custody Thursday evening, according to West Virginia State Police.

He is accused of beating and choking a woman with special needs during a home invasion on West Pea Ridge in Huntington Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the suspect circled the home several times before breaking in and, likely thinking no one was inside, found the woman with special needs, hit her several times on the head, choked her, and threatened to kill her before leaving without taking anything.

Troopers said Nichols will be charged with burglary and malicious wounding.
