Kanawha County students grabbed their backpacks and headed back to class on Monday.

Metro 911 reported it was a quiet morning with no accidents reported in school areas. There was a single-vehicle accident at Interstate 77 North near the split with Interstate 64, but the single-vehicle accident was cleared up quickly.

Some proud parents were taking pictures and videos of their children before they returned to the classroom. Eyewitness News would love to share your back-to-school pictures and videos. Submit them here.

For Herbert Hoover High students, they headed back to school and will be receiving their instruction this year in portable classrooms. Last year, the students had to split their day at Elkview Middle School after a flood destroyed Herbert Hoover. Last week, Herbert Hoover students and their parents got a view of those portables for the first time.

Many other counties in the region will be heading back to the classroom this week. Putnam County students begin classes this week on Thursday. For a list of school starting dates, click here.
