Some Cabell County Schools honored for recycling
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. —
More than 30 Cabell County Schools were honored Thursday for their recycling efforts. The Goodwill Recycling Center in Huntington hosts this end of the school year celebration every year.
Students bring in items to be recycled. Each month the bins are weighed and at the end of the year the final totals of how much was donated from each school are added up to determine the winners.
"Start any type of habit, especially with recycling at an early age they continue that habit throughout life and they will reduce their carbon footprint in the world," said Alissa Stewart, CEO, Goodwill Industries KYOWVA
All schools get a certificate, but the top six receive between $75 and $1,200 in prize money.
