One person dead after Charleston shooting

Charleston investigators said a man was shot and killed Sunday night in the 1000 block of First Avenue on Charleston's West Side.

Police said in a news conference that Bryant Keith Johnson, 52, was shot to death inside an apartment at about 11:30 p.m.

Police said several adults were in the residence at the time of the shooting. Police originally said the suspect in the shooter was wearing a mask, but said during the news conference that they were not sure whether the shooter wore a mask.

A homicide investigation is currently being led by the Charleston Police Department.
