Protest held in Parkersburg with federal employees missing paycheck
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) —
Thousands of workers in West Virginia are among the 800,000 furloughed federal employees who will miss their first paycheck on Friday.
On Thursday, Treasury Department workers in Parkersburg staged an end-the-shutdown rally in Centennial Park.
The crowd included fans and opponents of the border wall, but all of them and the National Treasury Employees union wanted the partial shutdown that begins its 21st day on Friday to end.
Yeager Airport officials were offering meal vouchers to some of the Transportation Security Administration and Federal Aviation Administration workers during the partial shutdown.
Airport operations at Yeager have not been effected yet.
