Police say man charged with shooting woman in Huntington

Huntington police said a North Carolina man has been charged in a shooting that injured a woman.

Kilan S. Nicks, 22, of Charlotte, N.C., was charged with malicious assault and a person prohibited from possessing firearms, according to criminal complaints filed in Cabell County Magistrate Court.

Police said the shooting happened about 9:30 p.m. Sunday in the 1800 block of Doulton Avenue. Police said the female victim was shot twice, causing paralysis in to her lower body. Police found spent shell casings at the scene.

Police said the victim identified the suspect in a photo lineup once she was able to communicate with police.

Nicks was arrested Thursday and taken to the Western Regional Jail.

Investigators also arrested Mark Chandler and Semaj Figg, according to a news release from the Huntington Police Department. Chandler was charged with possession of marijuana, and Figg was charged with possession with intent to deliver crack cocaine and heroin. Figg is also on federal probation for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
