Man injured in Boone County shooting Sunday night

Deputies have released more information on a shooting in Boone County on Sunday.

Cody Ellis, 29, was found with a gunshot wound to his abdomen along Jackson Avenue in Madison, according to a news release from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.

Ellis was life-flighted to a Charleston area hospital and is currently in stable condition.

One person was detained following the incident, but deputies said no arrests have been made.

Interviews were conducted and evidence was collected from the scene. The case is expected to be presented to the prosecutor’s office for further review.

Boone County deputies are investigating a shooting in the Madison area.

Dispatchers said one man was hurt and taken to the hospital. Another man was taken into custody in connection with the shooting.

The incident was reported about 10 p.m. Sunday on Jackson Avenue near Griffith Place.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office is responding to a shooting call in Madison, West Virginia.

Dispatchers tell Eyewitness News there is an active scene on Jackson Avenue.

The call came in just before 11 p.m. on Sunday.
