Police investigating after shots were fired from vehicles on Charleston's West Side

Charleston police say five people have been detained, and officers are continuing to search for someone after shots were fired from two vehicles near the intersection of Glenwood Avenue and Sixth Street. (WCHS/WVAH)

Charleston police are investigating after they said multiple shots were fired Wednesday afternoon from two vehicles on Charleston's West Side.

Lt. Autumn Davis said five people have been detained, and officers are working to determine how many people were involved.

During the investigation, police searched a home at Russell and Grant streets and found guns and drugs .

Charleston police have searched multiple homes in the area looking for possible suspects.

Charleston police responded to reports of shots being fired from two vehicles at about 3:45 p.m. in the Glenwood Avenue area of Charleston's West Side. Both vehicles have been located.

Police have also recovered one of the guns that was used.

None of the detainees has been charged at this time.
