Police ask public to be on lookout for person who may have been 'casing' neighborhood
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) —
Charleston police are asking the public to be on the lookout for a suspicious male spotted in the Bridge Road area who a resident suspected may have been casing the neighborhood for items of value to steal.
The resident reported he encountered the suspicious male trespassing on his property about 7:30 a.m. Monday, according to a news release from the Charleston Police Department.
Police said the resident spoke to the male who had no legitimate reason for being on his property or in the area. Another resident reported seeing a male matching the same individual’s description on another street in this particular area of South Hills. There has also been report of a suspicious white van in the area.
The suspicious person is described as a white male, in his 20s, “scruffy” looking with short brown hair, wearing a red shirt and blue jeans, with sores on his arms and face and a tattoo on one of his forearms that appeared to be cursive writing. Police said the sores on the male’s body were indicative of methamphetamine use. The male was pushing a smaller sized silver mountain bike.
Police asked the public to be on the lookout for anyone matching this description and to report that information to the police department by calling 304-348-8111.
Charleston police are conducting extra patrols in the area.
