Police: Man charged after autopsy shows 2-year-old dies with illegal drugs in system
IRONTON, Ohio (WCHS/WVAH) —
The Ironton Police Department arrested a man in connection to the death of a 2-year old boy after an autopsy reveals the child had illegal drugs in his system.
David E. Large, 36, of Ironton was charged with child endangerment, according to a news release from the police department.
Police said they were dispatched to an apartment about 10:30 p.m. Jan. 27 to a home in the 400 block of North Second Street. Police said a 2-year-old boy was in cardiac arrest. He was taken to Kings Daughters Medical Center where he died.
The boy's body was sent to Frankfort, Ky., for an autopsy, which revealed the presence of illegal drugs in his system.
Large was arrested Thursday and placed in the Lawrence County Jail. Police said the investigation is ongoing, and there could be additional charges and arrests.
Large will be arraigned Monday in the Lawrence County Municipal Court.
