Paving project underway along Interstate 64 in Kentucky
MOREHEAD, Ky. (WCHS/WVAH) —
Heading west on Interstate 64 into Kentucky, there's also another stretch of road construction. This construction zone goes from the Morehead exit to Mile Marker 142 in Rowan County in both directions.
Road crews are replacing the top layer of ashphalt on the highway, smoothing out broken pavement and potholes and making other upgrades. Traffic has been reduced to one lane in both directions.
The speed limit in the construction zone is 55 miles per hour. Authorities say they are beefing up patrols in the area as well as fines are doubled in work zone areas.
The project is expected to be finished sometime in June.
