One shot after police pursuit in Putnam County

One person has been shot after a police pursuit Thursday in Hurricane, W.V.

The pursuit happened on Route 34 near Route 60. The person was shot when the chase got to the intersection of Route 60 and Route 34.

A viewer provided the video below that shows officer drawing their weapons and approaching a pickup truck that then speeds away.

Putnam County Sheriff Steve Deweese said a deputy was responding to a breaking and entering alarm on Clymers Creek when there a report about a stolen vehicle out of Cabell County was received. The deputy spotted the car and tried to stop it; the suspect was shot in the leg by a law enforcement officer, the sheriff said.
