One injured, one detained after reported stabbing on West Side

Charleston police said one man sustained a serious injury Friday in a stabbing and another man is detained and being questioned.

Police said the incident happened about 1 p.m. when two men got into an altercation on the balcony of Chidinma Station, and it spilled into the roadway of the 1800 block of Washington Street West near Rebecca Street.

The man who was stabbed was transported to the hospital with a stab wound to the chest.

No arrests have been made. Police said the man who was detained was being questioned. He also was injured in the altercation, sustaining a blunt force injury to the back of his head.

Washington Street West is currently closed in the area.
