Ona man arrested after pursuit in Milton
MILTON, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) —
An Ona man is facing multiple charges after he is accused of leading Milton police on a pursuit Wednesday afternoon.
Brandon Smith, 26, is charged with felony fleeing with reckless disregard, driving on a revoked license for DUI second offense, possession of crystal meth, battery on a police officer, obstructing an officer and driving on an expired registration, according to a news release from the Milton Police Department.
Wednesday afternoon, Milton police tried to stop Smith for driving on an expired registration on James River Road, but Smith refused to stop, according to the release.
During the pursuit, the release said Smith jumped out of the moving vehicle in a gas station parking lot and ran on foot.
Smith was taken into custody after a short struggle.
He is being held in the Western Regional Jail on $10,000 bond.
