Bullet, a former K9 officer with the Nitro Police Department, has passed away.

The dog's health deteriorated to the point that he had to be laid to rest, according to the department's Facebook page. Bullet lived with his handler, Sgt. T. A. Jarrell.

Bullet helped solve murder investigations while he served with the department before retiring.

Bullet served with the Nitro Police Department from 2006 to 2016. He also served on the Marmet Police Department.

“K9 Bullet lived his entire life as a true hero and took his last breath as a true hero. Rest In Peace Brother, we’ll take it from here,” the Facebook tribute said.
