Middle school students compete in regional West Virginia History Bowl
BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) —
Local eighth-grade students competed in the regional West Virginia History Bowl tournament Sunday.
The bowl was held at Barboursville Middle School in Cabell County. Eleven teams from six schools competed.
students got the chance to show off their knowledge of West Virginia culture, geography, history and more.
"What we want to do is to build pride in our students. Because anyone will tell you, our most precious natural resource is right behind me is those kids. And what’s great about this, is our Golden Horseshoe scores keep going higher and higher and higher,” West Virginia Division of Culture and History Commissioner Randall Reid-Smith said.
The top two teams will move on to compete at the state tournament at the Cultural Center in Charleston in April.
