UPDATE, 6:00 p.m.

A Cross Lanes man says he fought with another man trying to break into his home, that intruder then shot him in the head. Luckily, the shot, only grazed the victim.

“We tussled around and one bullet went there and one over there,” said Jacob Winell, the shooting victim. “I'm assuming it's the one over there that grazed me in the head and after that I was down."

Winell was back home by Tuesday afternoon. He was shot about 8:15 a.m.

He said his security cameras picked up images of a man he said he did not know and a car.

Winell and another man and two women were home during the robbery. The other man said the robber forced him to get a trash bag at gunpoint that he filled with stolen items, but dropped after the fight.

Deputies immediately started looking for the getaway car.

It's not the first time Kanawha County deputies have been here. There was an accidental shooting in a vehicle outside this residence not that long ago.

In June two people were shot and wounded in the driveway of the Dalewood Drive home when a pistol accidentally discharged hitting both of them. Winell though hurt in this latest incident dodged the bullet well enough to avoid serious injury.
