Charleston man arrested after fleeing from series of crashes
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) —
A man has been arrested and faces multiple charges after Kanawha County deputies say he fled on foot following a series of crashes Monday.
Brandon Joe Sneed, 18, of Charleston is charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing injury, leaving the scene of an accident causing property damage, no operators and failure to render aid, a news release from the sheriff's office said.
Deputies responded to an accident about 8 a.m. where a suspect reportedly left the scene Monday on Coonskin Drive near the National Guard Armory, the release said.
A suspect vehicle from an earlier hit and run in Charleston crashed a second time into the yard of a private residence causing significant damage to a sewer line, deputies said. The driver, Sneed, attempted to flee and while fleeing, they crossed the centerline, striking another vehicle. The driver of that vehicle, a female, was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Sneed fled from that accident and was pursued by military police into the woods. Military police got a description of the suspect and later arrested him.
The vehicle Sneed was driving was reported as stolen, the release said.
Deputies said more charges are possible pending further investigation.
Sneed is currently being held at South Central Regional Jail on a 10 percent cash bond.
