Hurricane city leaders pass resolution to install Route 60 traffic light
HURRICANE, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) —
Concerned drivers may get their way when it comes to preventing accidents along Route 60 in Hurricane.
Hurricane city leaders recently passed a resolution to install a traffic light along Route 60 at the intersection with Sycamore Road. Currently, a caution light is being used.
Nearby neighbors have put together a petition to get a stoplight there ever since the construction on I-64 started and pushed overflow traffic onto the road.
One man who helped get the petition started said it's all about keeping people safe.
“This is a dangerous intersection and school buses are also being used here and church buses and it's just vitally important that we need a stop light here to keep accidents from happening," Jim Dunaway said.
The resolution will now go on to the West Virginia Department of Transportation for consideration.
