Huntington's Green Team is hard at work, making sure Downtown Huntington stays beautiful this summer.

Their job is to maintain and water more than 100 plants, 200 hanging baskets and other plants and shrubbery in Downtown Huntington.

The Green Team is a Homeless Employment Program that is run by the Cabell-Huntington Coalition For The Homeless. The team works 40 hours a week. They get minimum wage in addition to a work history that helps them get a regular job to become regular members of society.

"It's not too difficult. It gets extremely hot and you are on your feet all day. It's worth it to make your life yours. To get out of whatever hole you are in and get something better," said James Hunt, one of four members of the Green Team.

Organizers say public and private donations help get the Green Team started this year. A few weeks ago they were worried the money may not be in place to have the team work this year.
