A news release from Putnam County Prosecutor Mark Sorsaia said the indictment alleges Matulis committed five counts of second-degree sexual assault against five victims and two counts of first-degree sexual abuse.

A suit filed in April 2016 stated that a patient of Matulis’ told her attorney she had been sexually assaulted while under anesthesia during a colonoscopy at Charleston Area Medical Center Memorial Division. The attorney said four other women also been sexually assaulted during a colonoscopy.

The doctor had been working at Charleston Gastroenterology Associates, which is inside CAMC, since 1994, but is no longer listed as an employee.
