CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) — A former “American Idol” winner and two singing sisters known for their signature harmony sound will be the performers this weekend at Live on the Levee.
Trent Harmon, a former “American Idol” winner who has made a name for himself with his country crossover music, will headline the entertainment on Friday, Aug. 17, at Haddad Riverfront Park in Charleston. He is scheduled to perform about 7:45 p.m. on the Schoenbaum Stage.
The music will get started about 6:30 p.m. with opening act The Hobbs Sisters, a duo who began performing in the Pittsburgh area and continued in Winston Salem, N.C., where they graduated from Wake Forest University.
Live on the Levee is a free concert series that offers entertainment on 15 Fridays from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. This year’s lineup features 20 first-time performers, 10 national touring acts and seven returning favorites.
Eyewitness News is the exclusive media sponsor of Live on the Levee.
The concert series serves as a fundraiser for five local charities - Covenant House of West Virginia, Manna Meal, the Religious Coalition for Community Renewal, Roark-Sullivan Lifeway Center and the YWCA of Charleston.
Every Friday night, representatives from one of these organizations sell tickets for a 50/50 raffle. Proceeds from the raffle are collected throughout the season and divided among the five charities at the end of the year.
