Food service worker at Boyd County pizza restaurant diagnosed with hepatitis A
ASHLAND, Ky. (WCHS/WVAH) —
The Ashland-Boyd County Health Department says a food service worker at My Dad’s Pizza at 10699 U.S. 60 in Ashland has been diagnosed with hepatitis A.
A release from the health department said the employee was diagnosed on July 9. An investigation found that the risk of customers becoming infected is “very low.”
My Dad’s Pizza is working with the health department to prevent any new cases of hepatitis A. Any employee who has not been vaccinated will be required to get a vaccine before returning to work, according to the release.
The health department said My Dad’s Pizza temporarily closed after the employee was diagnosed.
This case is part of a multi-state hepatitis A outbreak.
