A Florida man was cited by Yeager Police Thursday morning after a Transportation Security Administration officer spotted a gun in his checked bag during a routine screening.

After the TSA officer spotted the .380 caliber revolver, the man was stopped and questioned. The man said he purposely did not declare the firearm was in his bag, according to a news release from the airport.

The man was cited for failing to declare a firearm, the release said. His name has not been released.

Passengers are allowed to travel with firearms in checked bags if they are properly packaged and declared. Firearms must be unloaded, packed in a hard-sided case, locked and packed separately from ammunition. For more information on his to properly fly with a firearm, click here.
