Deputies say man shot after buying drugs from dealer in post office parking lot
KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) —
Kanawha County deputies said investigators determined that a man who came into the hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds was shot in Hernshaw after buying drugs from a dealer.
The 21-year-old man came into Charleston Area Medical Center General Hospital Monday afternoon with a gunshot wound to his abdomen and hand, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office. He said he had been sitting in his car when he was shot in Hernshaw.
Deputies said a 17-year-old male has been arrested and charged with malicious wounding in this case.
Investigators determined the man was on the parking lot of the post office in Hernshaw victim was on the parking lot of the post office in Hernshaw buying drugs when the dealer shot at him in his vehicle after the transaction.
A passenger in the vehicle was unharmed. A single shot from a handgun went through the vehicle, into the victim’s abdomen, then into his hand. The injuries are not life-threatening.
