Deputies say heroin, several firearms seized in largest drug bust in Cabell County history

Cabell County Sheriff Chuck Zerkle said deputies seized the largest amount of heroin in the department's history.

Wayne Cook, 31, of Huntington is charged with two counts of possession with intent to deliver, person prohibited from possession of firearms and transferring and receiving stolen property, according to criminal complaints filed in Cabell County Magistrate Court.

Deputies said they seized more than 4 pounds of heroin from a home on Latulle Avenue in Huntington Monday. Deputies said this amount of heroin has a street value of $200,000.

Zerkle said deputies also seized more than 2 pounds of marijuana, 14 guns, two vehicles and $50,000 in cash from the home. Zerkle said there was about $50,000 worth of stolen property including electronics and tools.

Zerkle said he believes Cook is a major player in the drug trade in the area.

Cook was taken to the Western Regional Jail and a cash only bond of $140,000 was set.
