Charleston firefighters said a fire that broke out in a vacant home and then damaged two other homes appears to be suspicious but is under investigation.

The blaze broke out about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at the home in the 1000 block of Beech Avenue, significantly damaging the structure.

Four people and two dogs living in a home to the right of the vacant house were able to get out safely. The home sustained fire damage to the living room and the attic.

Meanwhile, a home on the left of the vacant house that caught fire sustained some heat damage on the side of the house.

No injuries were reported.

The vacant home had no utilities connected and was scheduled for demolition.
