Charleston police have identified the victim in a shooting Wednesday night.

Chris Zackoski, 33 and homeless, was reportedly shot in the back near the right kidney just before 10 p.m. in an alley near the men’s emergency shelter in the 500 block of Leon Sullivan Way. As of Wednesday night, the victim was in stable condition.

The victim said the suspect, who is described as a black male who goes by "Zay," shot him over a $40 meth debt, a news release from Charleston police said.

Police say Zackoski is uncooperative and providing limited information. The victim was profiled on Eyewitness News' Fugitive Files and captured in June after allegedly jumping out of a second-story window at Renaissance Circle to avoid capture.

Police are continuing to search for the suspect. The suspect was last seen wearing glasses, a red or black hoodie and khaki pants. No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information should contact police at 304-348-8111.
