6-year-old dies after being attacked by dog in WV

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) - A 6-year-old boy has died after being attacked by a dog Friday evening.

Huntington Police Chief Joe Ciccarelli said the boy died at Cabell Huntington Hospital after being attacked by a dog in his home.

According to Chief Ciccarelli, Huntington Police, Family Crimes Unit detectives, and Child Protective Services responded to the incident and are continuing to investigate.

Huntington Police have been in touch with the prosecuting attorney, who will be reviewing the investigation to determine what charges will be filed, if any.

The dog is now in custody of Animal Control, which Chief Ciccarelli says will be seeking a court order to have the dog euthanized.
