In the new ABC series "Speechless" Minnie Driver plays Maya DiMeo. Her number one priority is to find the perfect school district for her eldest son, who has cerebral palsy. The show focuses on Maya's determination to make sure J,J, (Micah Fowler) is treated fairly while exploring how her other children cope with their family's situation.

"I fell in love with it right away because of the characters are so well defined, so well written and so funny," Cedric Yarbrough (Kenneth) said.

"The characters are real and the family has a real genuine dynamic," John Ross Bowie (Jimmy DiMeo) said. "I related to it on so many levels and that's coming from someone who does not have anyone in my family with special needs."

Bowie has hit sitcom experience through his recurring role on "The Big Bang Theory." He says "Speechless" is funny and warm. And he's hopeful the show finds similar success.

"It's way too early to tell whether we're going to be a monster hit but so far people seem to really like the show and we're making the best show we can," he said.

"Speechless" airs on Wednesday nights at 8:30 on WCHS-TV8.
