Three Republican West Virginia senators lose races in primary

Three incumbent Republican state senators in West Virginia lost Tuesday in primary contests on Tuesday, setting the table for November elections.

Republicans are seeking to protect a 22-12 Senate majority and 64-36 lead in the House.

On Tuesday, Delegate Bill Hamilton, R-Upshur, defeated Sen. Robert Karnes, R-Upshur, Rollan Roberts ousted Sen. Lynne Arvon, R-Raleigh,, and Eric Tarr beat Sen. Mark Drennan, R-Putnam.
