Traveling WV: Knapps Creek Trout Lodge
Marlinton W.Va. —
Mark Mitchel grew up in Pocahontas County right beside Knapps Creek in Marlinton. "I used to walk out here in the morning before school, catch a fish, then fry it up and eat it." says Mitchel. When Mark retired, he wanted to get back to his fishing roots, and always dreamed of being a fly fishing guide. Anne Mitchel, Mark's daughter, had moved away from the area. Mark called Anne and gave her an opportunity she simply couldn't turn down, come back home and help him manage a trout fishing lodge in the house Mark grew up in. "It took me about thirty seconds to decide." says Anne. That was how Knapps Creek Trout Lodge was born, and now offers guided fishing trips coupled with immaculate accommodations along a trophy trout stream in beautiful Pocahontas County.
