A group of students in Putnam County says they're ready to get back into the classroom.

They gathered at Winfield High School Thursday morning to do their schoolwork using the Wi-Fi there.

Putnam County started the school year as orange, meaning students have to learn remotely.

Students at Winfield say they can still learn safely on school property, and are encouraging students in other areas to follow suit.

“Last year ended so fast, so I think we have all kind of learned to appreciate being together and all the time that we get to spend together and we need our teachers and I just think we need to be in school,” Jenna Johnson said.

Putnam County is still orange at this time.
